On February 15, 2016 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the music industry held its most celebrated and biggest event of the year. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) honored and recognized the best recordings, compositions and artists at the 58th annual Grammy Awards. This three and one ­half hours televised event was hosted for a fifth consecutive year by LL Cool J. While there were numerous nominations covering 83 categories, the most anticipated was the four standard awards for musical works known as the “General Field or Big Four.” This year’s four standard awards and their winners are as follows:

● Album of the Year — ­­ 1989, [Taylor Swift]

● Record of the Year –­­ Uptown Funk, [Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars]

● Song of the Year ­­– Thinking Out Loud, [Ed Sheeran & Amy Wadge, songwriters (Ed Sheeran)]

● Best New Artist ­­– Meghan Trainor
