In the 7th and 8th grade, as a student, you will be responsible to complete 10 hours of service a trimester. You may think that the task is a pain, but from my first experience, it was a good learning time, and a lot of fun.  Rocco, Kevin, Kyle, Mateus, and I all went together to make the experience more enjoyable. We went to work at a nonprofit organization named “AHEAD With Horses.” My first duty, along with Kyle and Rocco, was to groom the horses and make them look more beautiful. We were grooming the horses while Mateus was taking some photos, and Kevin was spotting. Spotting is walking with the horse, and making sure another person is riding it properly. The organization helps people — “Through vaulting (gymnastics on a moving horse), even severely disabled children learn and achieve with the goal of enabling them to lead more independent and productive lives.” AHEAD stands for Accelerated Habilitation Education and Development.  I had a good time helping others in need and making the horses look even better than they did before. Overall this was a good experience for my friends and me, and we completed 4 hours that Saturday.
