As Christmas is shortly approaching, I wanted to learn about the history of Santa Claus. Santa doesn’t just go by one name he goes by many; such as Father Christmas, St. Nicholas and Kris Kringle, to name a few. The tradition began with St. Nicholas. He was a kind man and was known for helping the poor and passing gifts to people who needed it. Sadly, he died on December 6th in the year 343. As years went by he became known as Father Christmas and in early U.S history, he became known as Kris Kringle. We all can agree that he travels through the sky on his sleigh with his reindeer and delivers gifts to all the good little boys and girls around the world on Christmas Eve. My mom always told me, “As long as you believe in the spirit of Christmas, Santa will forever live in your heart.’’
